The Indian River is a salt water intracoastal waterway and offers beautiful views. Many guests enjoy visiting the nearby (40 miles) Kennedy Space Center to learn about NASA and from the dawn of space exploration to current and ongoing missions, you can get an up-close, hands-on feel for the story of humans in space. The beaches on our barrier island offer prime viewing of NASA launches. Eager spectators set up their beach chairs along the shoreline and wait in anticipation as rockets blast off from Kennedy Space Center. Some of the best spots are on the south side of New Smyrna Beach, like Canaveral National Seashore. This park, which costs $10 per vehicle, fills quickly on launch days. Another favorite site is Bethune Beach, located at 6656 S. Atlantic Avenue. With free parking and easy access to restrooms, this locale is very family-friendly. Nearby (within five minutes' drive), there are two grocery stores, gas stations, banks, and plenty of restaurant options. We have a large car port with plenty of room to park.
